New hosting and such

I decided to switch hosting, again.  I found an amazing deal on a dedicated server.  I get full access to everything, the box is mine.  This is the type of hosting I’ve needed forever, and it lets me start doing creative stuff again, without having to worry about some idiot on my shared hosting bringing down the server every 5 minutes.

I have created a Coldfusion Twitter client, that will keep track of all of my friends and followers, and allow me to do more stuff on my iPhone with Twitter.  I really hate the Twitter mobile site, and all of the Twitter iPhone clients rely upon Twitter being up, or not exceeding their allocation of request per hour.  I now have a task that gets all my friends and comments, dumps them into a database, and allows me to browse comments easily by users, in a date range, etc.  It will also allow me to build my own response system (something else that sucks on the mobile version) and do all sorts of other things specific to the way in which I use Twitter.  It also lets me flex some new CF muscles, and write an entire application in CFCs and CFScript, using the new framework that I’m working on.

Just to be clear, I will continue to use Tumblr for blogging, at least for now, as I really like some of the features it offers.  I’m more or less done with Drupal.  I never really liked it, and only learned it for work.  I may try Mango Blog, as I’m not a big fan of BlogCFC, but I may just write my own, specific to my needs.  In all likelihood, I will end up just writing a better mobile interface to Tumblr, using the Tumblr API, as I’ve done with Twitter, that allows for better iPhone support.  The documentation for the Twitter and Tumblr APIs is great, and really easy to work with.

I have moved all of my sites, and the girls sites, Ada Pilar and Anais Ydel, to the new server, and next comes Sky’s business and art sites.  With unlimited hosting, and plenty of space and bandwidth, the sky is the limit to what I can do in this new environment.
